Audrey Lee, PhD

I'm Audrey, a lifelong enthusiast of movement and adventure. My journey began competing in dance, swimming, and gymnastics from age six through college, eventually leading me to the exhilarating world of road cycling. This passion for athleticism drove me to earn a PhD in exercise and sports science, complemented by a Master’s degree in nutrition, where I explored cutting-edge performance techniques and nutrition strategies.
I've had the privilege of coaching for Greenville Cycling, Team Roger C Peace, Paralyzed Veterans of America Racing, Chicago SUP Racing and give regular talks for Performance Paddling. I organized comprehensive team camps that focused on training, recovery, stretching, nutrition, and education to help athletes reach their peak performance.

Hear What They Have To Say

I met Audrey last summer while competing in a 10K Standup Paddle Race on Lake Michigan. We were neck and neck until the end when she beat me by less than a second. Her grace, her speed, her attitude drew me to her. I then learned she was the nutritionist for some of the finest athletes I knew. I wanted what they had; what Audrey had. I was headed to the Netherlands for what would be the biggest race of my life. 11 City Sup Tour , a 5 day, 150 mile endurance race through canals, rivers, lakes, wind, and waves. Bonking was not an option, but based on many of my experiences I feared this was inevitable. Then Audrey, I was skeptical but hopeful. I had what I thought was a “perfect” diet. I ate real unprocessed foods with the occasional “cheat” aka celebration food, parties, birthdays. She taught me my day-to-day nutrition would not sustain me in an ultra-endurance race. Nutrition, she taught me, must be based on what life is throwing at you. What worked for me was that she helped me based on ME, what I liked, what made me feel good. There were no silly gimmicks, just real food. She helped me understand nutrition, how it works beyond weight maintenance and standard health. She gave me a toolbox, and she is always there, responsive and positive. The 11 City Tour was a success, I was the oldest female paddler in the race and placed 4th in the 50 and over category. I was thrilled. When I returned home, I discovered I was positive for the BRCA 2 mutation, giving me an 86% likelihood of breast cancer. I chose to have a prophylactic mastectomy. I knew the decision was the right one for me but it came with a great deal of fear. A mastectomy is a big surgery, recovery is long (7 Weeks). What would happen? Muscles to mush, no endurance, speed. I reached out to Audrey who laid out a map to recovery. She helped me to envision myself as strong every step of the way. She supplied me with easy recipes so I could stock my freezer with nutritious healing foods to supply my body with everything it needed to heal. And heal I did.

I am amazed at how I feel lately. I no longer feel depleted when I'm training and I feel full all day--BUT, here is the kicker...I've lost weight! I added protein to my breakfast and eat salads daily. I still eat sweets but not as often which has led to a decrease in my craving. I've read so many books about nutrition and I never realized how to balance a meal. It has finally sunk in, thanks to you!

Yes achieved a PR for both races! I took 2:20 off the 12 mile time trial and 17 mins off the 30 mile road race. I also lost 3 lbs in three weeks. I'm pretty happy with those results. Thanks for all your help!

started working with Audrey in July, 2021 to help me train for a 31 mile Stand-Up Paddleboard race. It was something I set my sights on during the year I would turn 50. It was a great choice. Audrey created a personal nutritional program for my trainings. She helped me balance my intake of nutrients and enhance the fuel I needed for my training days on and off the water. She was easy to work with and the results paid off. On race day, three months later, I performed at my best. I never bonked and had consistent energy to not only finish but to finish fourth overall. I am grateful to have had this type of nutritional coaching and would highly recommend her for anyone looking to compete at their best.

As an integral core member of the coaching and support staff, Audrey creates and customizes the nutrition program that we use at Team Roger C. Peace training camps and competitive events. Utilizing her holistic philosophies, she designs and prepares our menus with the dual focus of improving performance and aiding recovery. She shares that information in a passionate way that our athletes can understand and assimilate into their own training programs. She exemplifies the health and fitness that can be developed by proper nutritional choices, and encourages exploration and growth in others through her compassion and wisdom. Her value to our team is immeasurable, unless, of course, you count the numerous national and world championships that her athletes have garnered.
Jerry Page - Manager, Team Roger C. Peace
I am a lifetime athlete who has competed in various sports since my teenage years. I have generally done well in my athletic endeavors with cycling being my weakest sport. I have competed under many different coaches over the years and typically they have had a one size fits all coaching style. Sometimes my performance was improved, other times I thought I could do better on my own. After becoming injured as a result of my military service, I was unsure of what my results would be. Audrey has been a phenomenal cycling coach and has produced results beyond my expectations. Her coaching style of making sophisticated concepts easily understandable, creating tough but achievable goals, and balancing encouragement and accountability is truly unique. Audrey brings not only her expertise in cycling, but her vast knowledge in sports nutrition which resulted in me getting significantly lighter and becoming much faster. What Audrey does is she becomes your partner in reaching your potential. She was truly invested in my success and I would enthusiastically recommend her for anyone who is looking to take themselves to new levels of performance.
