She taught me my day-to-day nutrition would not sustain me in an ultra-endurance race. Nutrition, she taught me, must be based on what life is throwing at you. What worked for me was that she helped me based on ME, what I liked, what made me feel good. There were no silly gimmicks, just real food. She helped me understand nutrition, how it works beyond weight maintenance and standard health. She gave me a toolbox, and she is always there, responsive and positive. The 11 City Tour was a success, I was the oldest female paddler in the race and placed 4th in the 50 and over category. I was thrilled.
Audrey is keen on finding what works for each individual. The method that works for me is tracking everything I eat and drink, the type and intensity of my workouts, and my hunger and energy levels throughout the day. I spend about 15 minutes per day doing this - a small price to pay for having lost 10 pounds and elevating my energy and concentration levels, all without being hungry or feeling deprived!
Before working with Audrey I struggled with finding quick but healthy meals, but now I make smoothies, have healthy snacks, eat lots of fruit and this has created this added benefit and ease to my athletic and school life.
I am amazed at how I feel lately. I no longer feel depleted when I'm training and I feel full all day--BUT, here is the kicker...I've lost weight! I added protein to my breakfast and eat salads daily. I still eat sweets but not as often which has led to a decrease in my craving. I've read so many books about nutrition and I never realized how to balance a meal. It has finally sunk in, thanks to you!
